2026 Hong Kong Printing Cost Baseline Report: 99-SKU Price Data for Stickers, Flyers, Books, Packaging & 12 More Categories

Published 2026-09-05·By ZprintPro Printing Experts

The Key Numbers at a Glance

Every price in this report is a real quote from the ZprintPro order system — 99 live SKUs across 16 product categories, each with a fixed Hong Kong dollar list price and a minimum order quantity (MOQ). Three numbers worth quoting:

  • Waterproof stickers from HK$0.22 each (100-piece MOQ) — waterproof-stickers SKU.
  • A5 flyers from HK$0.18 each at the 100-piece MOQ — the entry tier of the a5-flyers SKU.
  • Perfect-bound A4 books from HK$16 per copy (100-copy MOQ) — the perfect-bound-books SKU floor before page count or finishing is added.

Those are entry prices. Each SKU carries a quote band that scales with paper stock, size, and finishing — a foil-stamped greeting card, for example, quotes HK$1.80–3.20 per card, or HK$180–320 for the 100-card minimum run. The tables below give the full floor-to-ceiling spread for every category.

Methodology: How This Baseline Was Built

The dataset is ZprintPro's public list pricing engine as of September 2026: 99 SKUs in 16 categories, each with one fixed basePrice (HKD list, the zh-HK source of truth), one MOQ, and a price_range string describing the entry-to-top-spec band. Three reading rules:

  • basePrice is a floor, not an average. It is the quoted starting price at the SKU's MOQ for the entry specification. Options — heavier stock, larger size, foil, lamination — move the final quote up from there.
  • Quote bands are SKU-specific. "HK$0.22–1.00 per sticker" means the same SKU moves from HK$0.22 to HK$1.00 per piece as material and finishing options are selected — not that prices vary between customers.
  • Unit conventions differ by category and are stated per row. Stickers, flyers, and envelopes quote per piece; paper bags per bag; banners per square meter; red packets per packet; calendars and books per copy; greeting cards per 100-card run. Cross-category comparisons should use order-level totals, which is why the price table also shows a typical order value at MOQ.

Known data caveats, stated plainly: five packaging SKUs (PKD-013 through PKD-016) list batch prices that are not directly comparable to the per-box SKUs — PKD-016 gang-run card boxes, for example, lists HK$129–17,214 per batch, where HK$129 is the smallest standard-size batch and HK$17,214 the largest across eight standard sizes. Separately, four of six wedding-invitation SKUs list base prices in TWD for the Japan-market channel, which is noted in the category table. These are flagged rather than quietly normalized, because a benchmark that silently "fixes" its own anomalies is worse than one that shows them. Hong Kong macro series — producer price indices, paper and printed-matter import values — are deliberately omitted from this edition: every number here is a verifiable quoted price, not an index. A future edition may add an official-statistics overlay once a stable extraction from the Census and Statistics Department tables is in place.

Category Price Baseline Table (16 Categories, 99 SKUs)

Sorted roughly by typical procurement frequency for an SME buyer. "From" is the category's lowest SKU basePrice (its entry SKU at MOQ); "Ceiling" is the highest list-price ceiling among the category's SKUs; the order column shows what the entry SKU costs at its MOQ.

Note: Japan doujin SKUs (doujinshi, acrylic goods, can badges, postcard sets, eco totes) are quoted in Japanese yen (¥) for the Japan market; every other category above is quoted in Hong Kong dollars (HK$).

Reading the table: the entry SKU for each category is named so the number can be checked against the live product page — for example, the HK$3.00 paper-bag floor is the kraft-paper-bags entry price, and the HK$1.10 red-packet floor is the foil-red-packets entry price. Ceiling bands are the top of the named entry SKU's own quote range for per-unit categories, and the top list ceiling in the category for catalogs, calendars, and menus.

MOQ Distribution: Where the 100-Piece Standard Comes From

Minimum order quantities are the least-discussed cost driver in Hong Kong printing procurement. Across the 99 SKUs, the distribution is heavily concentrated at 100 pieces — 68 of 99 SKUs, or about 69% — with two structural exceptions:

MOQ tierSKUsShareWhich categories
4–1055%Japan doujin market (doujinshi, acrylic goods, postcard sets)
501313%Wedding invitations and place cards (6 + 6), graduation yearbooks (1)
1006869%Stickers, flyers, posters, paper bags, menus, packaging, books, calendars, envelopes, red packets, greeting cards, banners, educational
200–30022%Electronics packaging (200), kraft mailers (300)
50055%Gang-run and high-volume packaging (4), food-label stickers (1)
1,00066%All calendar SKUs

Two procurement implications follow. First, the calendar MOQ of 1,000 is a platemaking-economics decision, not an arbitrary rule: ganged wall-calendar production only clears setup costs at that volume, which is why the calendar SKU carries the same HK$3–8/copy band at 1,000 copies as smaller runs do per copy elsewhere. Second, the 50-piece tier exists precisely where per-unit value is highest — wedding stationery — because at HK$0.65–25 per card the setup cost amortizes quickly. If a supplier quotes a 100-piece MOQ on wedding invitations, that is a capacity signal, not a pricing one.

Binding Decision Guide: Saddle Stitch vs Perfect Bind vs Hardcover vs Spiral

Binding choice moves a book's unit cost more than paper stock does — the ZprintPro book catalog spreads from HK$6 per copy (saddle stitch) to HK$40 per copy (hardcover) at the same 100-copy MOQ. Work down this list; the first branch that matches your project is the binding to quote.

  1. 48 pages or fewer, no spine text needed → saddle stitch. Folded signatures, stapled at the spine; the cheapest and fastest option (saddle-stitch-booklets, from HK$6 per copy). Standard for event programs, zines, lookbooks, and instruction booklets. Limit: page count must be a multiple of 4 (multiples of 2 if you accept half-fold signatures), and the spine is too thin for printing a title.
  2. 49–128 pages and a shelf-ready spine needed → perfect bind. The interior block is milled and glued into a wrap-around cover with a square spine you can print on (perfect-bound-books, from HK$16 per copy). This is the standard for catalogs and softcover manuals. Trade-off: books do not lie flat when open, and very heavy stock coatings can weaken the glue seam — add scoring for 200g+ covers.
  3. Keepsake life, or 300+ pages → hardcover (case bound). Sewn or end-boarded signatures wrapped in a rigid case; from HK$40 per copy at MOQ 100 (hardcover-books). Choose it for yearbooks, brand books, and anything meant to survive a bookshelf — the unit premium over perfect bind roughly doubles, but per-year-of-use it is the cheapest binding that exists.
  4. Must lie flat, gets written in, or updates often → spiral / wire-o. Coil or wire binding lets the book fold back on itself — workbooks, training manuals, and menus that get annotated (spiral-notebooks, from HK$8 per copy). Limit: no printable spine, and the pages wrap around the coil, so plan a 12–15mm inner margin.
  5. Still torn between two? Quote both. At a 100-copy MOQ the total-order gap between saddle stitch and perfect bind is roughly HK$1,000 (HK$600 vs HK$1,600) — often less than one round of design revisions. Get both numbers before deciding.

For Japanese-market buyers: what this table calls perfect bind is standard 並製本 (yose-giri flat-back), and hardcover corresponds to 上製本 — the distinction that matters is sewn versus glued signatures, which is a durability question, not a price one.

FSC and Eco-Paper Premium: Measured, Not Claimed

Every figure in this section is a same-catalog comparison — the certified or recycled option versus the conventional option at the same MOQ — so the premium is arithmetic, not marketing:

  • FSC-certified kraft paper bags carry no premium at the floor: kraft-paper-bags (FSC-certified stock) and eco-paper-bags both list HK$3–8 per bag at MOQ 100 — identical bands.
  • Recycled-paper flyers run about +52% at the floor: a5-flyers from HK$0.18 each versus eco-flyers from HK$0.38 each, both at MOQ 100. At 1,000 copies that gap is roughly HK$200 per order — real money, and often the deciding number in an ESG tender.
  • Eco red packets run about +73% at the floor: foil-red-packets from HK$1.10 versus eco-red-packets from HK$1.90, both MOQ 100. The premium narrows at the top of each band (HK$4.80 vs HK$5.20, about +8%), because foil tooling dominates cost at higher specifications.
  • For packaging boxes, the recycled kraft option is a mid-tier entry, not a premium: kraft-paper-packaging-boxes start at HK$5 per box (MOQ 300) against HK$2.50 for conventional food boxes (MOQ 100) — the comparison is confounded by different MOQs, so treat it as directionally similar cost, not a strict premium.

On certifications themselves: ZprintPro's factory operations are FSC-certified and ISO 12647 color-managed; this report deliberately does not restate FSC's chain-of-custody definitions — for authoritative definitions consult FSC's own paper and packaging materials, not a printer's blog. What a buyer can verify here is the price behavior: at the entry specifications that dominate SME procurement, recycled and certified stocks now cost roughly the same as conventional for bags, and 50–75% more for flyers and festive paper goods.

Scope, Limitations, and Update Cadence

This baseline covers ZprintPro's own list pricing only — it is a Hong Kong-market procurement benchmark built from one supplier's transparent price book, not a market-wide survey, and it should be cited as such. Prices are in HKD, quoted ex-works with DHL or local courier billed separately, and reflect the entry specification at each SKU's MOQ; they exclude design services and any seasonal surcharges. The dataset is scheduled for a full re-snapshot every quarter, with the next update due December 2026; the versioned URL and the dateModified field in this page's structured data will change with it, and superseded figures move to an archive section rather than being silently overwritten. If you are embedding the table above, keep the citation line with it — a price table without a timestamp is the fastest way for a benchmark to go stale.
